Of all the areas adjacent to downtown, Franklinton is probably the most ripe for some gentrification, I think. (Or, it’s the only area left that hasn’t seen much of that yet.) From NBC4i:

Franklinton, the oldest settlement in Central Ohio, is about to get a facelift.

Developers announced on Friday that several buildings in the area will be renovated for downtown living, NBC 4’s Elizabeth Scarborough reported.

The old B & T Metal building has been closed since 1982. But Scarborough said that it, and four other buildings near it, will be transformed into the newest addition to downtown life.

She said that developers plan on putting loft apartments, shopping, a theater and even a coffee house into the space.

According to officials, Brick Investment Corporation has allocated $23 million for the project.

Environmental concerns however may delay the project for up to a year.
