Bloggers have free speech rights

Political blogs are not subject to FEC regulations, unless they’re paid for by candidates. So, there is a First Amendment. I’m not impressed that the FEC is ruling on these matters at all. I mean they could just as easily rule the other way.

There’s “free speech” on most blogs except the BS Blog.

Democratic Party and candidate consultants Paul Ackerman and Ryan Fissel, of Linwood Campaign Services, are tag-teaming against Jerid Kurtz, of the BS Blog, as we speak.

Here’s a website for Linwood Campaign Services, in case you have not already become familiar with them.

Good work Paul and Ryan regarding exposing Jerid Kurtz!

Paul Ackerman, of Linwood Campaign Services, refers to this year old post (which I am proudly listed in the comments as being against the BS Blog’s misleading and underhanded tactics)

    http://www.buckeyestateblog.com/node/2232

The above post is generally about past “slam and ban” tactics of the BS Blog that involved myself, Cindy of As Ohio Goes and others. Currently, Paul Ackerman is protesting against similar BS Blog tactics that Jerid has been instituting.

Although this is not a new behavior of the BS Blog, it is unusual that Paul and Ryan are standing against Jerid. They are listed as front-pagers for the BS Blog. You know it’s getting pretty bad for Jerid when all of his front-pagers are forming a mutiny against Jerid.

  3. Posted by Dave Hickman | Sep 7, 2007 12:54 pm

Oops, it looks like Paul Ackerman already dropped-off of the BS Blog’s front-pager list. But, Ryan Fissel is still listed… despite Ryan’s current stand aganist Jerid.

Where have all the front-pagers gone from the BS Blog?

    Oh wow,

The actuality of the matter is that Jerid just “booted” Paul Ackerman (Linwood Campaign Services) as a BS Blog front-pager.

Man o’ man… Paul Ackerman has been one of the longest and most loyal posters and front-pagers on the BS Blog.

Here’s Ryan Fissel’s dumbfounded response to Jerid’s childish antics against Paul Ackerman:

I guess that is the reason for why Paul Ackerman is no longer listed here:

    BWAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA

I thought my original post here (at Columbususer.com) would just be a quick “in and out” informational post. But the more I read, over at the BS Blog, about Paul and Ryan’s blitz against Jerid Kurtz, the better it gets.

Here’s a few words that Paul or Ryan have used against Jerid:

Paul: “Rather a nasty way to refer to someone…”

Ryan: “That sounds like some sort of dig…

Paul: (To Jerid) “…don’t you have something better to do like post yet another picture of yourself? Sheesh.”

Paul: (To Jerid) “…you disrepsected a candidate who has been working very hard to affect change here in Ohio and you got called on it and you’re used to fawning adoration and don’t like criticism. She didn’t deserve the dig and you should apologize for it… Try to show candidates some respect Jerid. Put down the mirror and look outward sometimes.”

Ryan: (To Jerid) “I think that (Paul’s) issue, and I share it, is your almost narcissitic need to play kingmaker in the Ohio blogosphere. You have no problem attacking people, candidates, contributors, whatever if it suits your needs. On the other hand, you have no problem pushing other candidates, people, etc. if it gets you something… Paul’s issue, and my issue, was the ease of which you were able to dismiss someone who has put themselves in front of the people and talked about issues of which she is passionate. I have great respect for someone who does that because I know it is something that I could never do… We should have respect for a person who chooses to stand up and work to make these solutions a reality… We shouldn’t attack or defame persistance. If we do, nothing will ever get done.

Paul: (To Jerid) “… I replied about current site traffic and then you came back with a smart ass answer, assuming it was for (Linwood Campaign Services) and that if all I was interested in was eyeballs, that I should take out a classified ad in the newspaper.

Yes, Jerid, that attitude did piss me off and I wasn’t going to air this publically, but so be it. I was looking for measurable information on behalf of someone who was thinking of spending money (for ads on the BS Blog) and you answered back that way. That’s when I started getting your measure.

And as for Russell? Yes, he did lie about statistics on BSB. The thread where he bragged about hitting 1 million visitors and 3 million views is here.

    http://www.buckeyestateblog.com/node/2232

At the time he posted that, I still had full access to the sitemeter account that *I* had created for (the BS Blog) and I knew it was complete bullshit. I must admit I wasn’t all that concerned at the time, and when in a private moment I mentioned it to (Russell Hughlock), he laughed and said something like it made BSB look better. No surprise that (Russell) changed the password to the sitemeter account right after that.

So yes, Jerid … I plead guilty to getting pissed at someone who does business based on a lie and on flip remarks. Needless to say, the ad was never purchased.

So be careful using language like “shake me down”. I don’t like being lied about. Don’t like it one little bit.

    —————

    My comments (Dave Hickman)

Oh the joy… I was, in part, responsible for the shake-up that happened between Russell and Paul over a year ago (the situation that was just described above about Russell lying about BS Blog sitemeter stats). This is why you see my name mentioned several times in the comments.

Cindy Zawadzki, of As Ohio Goes, was also confronting both Russell Hughlock and Tim Russo at the time. Back then, Russo got front page Plain Dealer coverage regarding his sexual offense.

I wonder what should be done now that we have Paul Ackerman’s testimony that Russell Hughlock was being a bald-faced liar about his BS Blog site meter traffic statistics? What Russell did then was and is “fraud” in my opinion. This is why Russell and I always hashed it out and why he always banned me from the BS Blog. In separate circumstances, Cindy of As Ohio Goes Blog had a similar run-in with Russell Hughlock.

If you want to read more of the current debate against Jerid from Paul and Ryan, it digresses to name-calling such as “bizarre ego masturbation” and “you’re an ass or idiotic” and “jackass 12-year old.” So basically, you are welcome to read a whole lot more “disrespect and plain rudeness” if you should desire to do so…

    http://www.buckeyestateblog.com/oh_5_you_speculatin_son_of_a_gun_you

I guess my more than a year old critique of the BS Blog was ahead of it’s time. This is especially true now that Paul Ackerman and Ryan Fissel are finally standing-up against Jerid as well as revealing morsels of information about Russell Hughlock’s lies and deception.
